23" (58 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head portraying young man, bald crown, sculpted curls at center forehead and above the ears and around back of head, enamel eyes, strong aquiline nose, incised character lines above the nose bridge, corners of mouth and arched downward from his nose, sculpted ears, stern expression, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, bare feet except painted sandals, wearing yellow linen and silk shirt with gilt metal applique, wide metallic sash with buckle, and blue silk brocade harem pants with gilt button accents, holding a wooden flute. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s.
