16" (41 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with modeled bosom and shoulderblades, dark blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows with feathered details, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with exception of original hole at center for insertion of bottle nipple, very full cheeks, metal turn-screw at back of head designed to create sucking action with rubber ball inside head, as though sucking on baby bottle, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid bebe body with scalloped collarette, gusset-jointing at hips and knees, bisque forearms. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Bru Jne 5 T (head) 5T Bru Jne (shoulders). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, an early period model of the firm's popular Bebe Teteur, circa 1884. Value Points: pristine condition of the early bebe, nursing mechanism intact, kid body is in near mint condition, perfect bisque hands, original wig, and original undergarments and baby costume.
