16" (41 cm.) All-wooden polychromed carved adult man with one-piece head and torso, black complexion, enamel eyes, deeply-sculpted black hair with side-forehead curls, a long rolled curl at each side face and an extended looped up curl at the back of head, carved sideburns and goatee, very slender elongated face and gaunt torso, mortise and tenon-jointing at shoulders, elbows and hips, curled shaped fingers, bare feet, costume comprising velvet pants and jacket, ribbon-bound silk vest, shirt collar, wooden base. Excellent condition. Genoese, attributed to Anton Maria Maragliano or his workshop, late 1600s. Rare model accentuated by exceptional detail of carving and painting. (Bird sold separately).
