Description
26" (66 cm.) Bisque socket head with very deeply-impressed sculpted facial features, upper-glancing painted brown eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, painted curly lashes, accented eye corners and nostrils, rounded tip nose, closed mouth with full outlined lips, impressed dimples at lip corners and chin, brunette mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: K made in Germany 208 14 (head) Germany (body). Comments: Kestner, circa 1910 from their art character series of that year; the doll was offered with glass or this rarer painted eye variation, generally in small size. Few examples of the size 14 are known to exist, and may have been presented as an exhibition model. Value Points: the fine presence of the extremely rare doll accentuates its value; with finest bisque, complexion and painting of expressive features, the doll has original body, body finish, wig, and is wearing wonderful antique Scottish costume.
