21" (53 cm.) The wooden secretary-desk with cabinet top having beveled doors, shaped crest, and shelved interior has slant front desk which hinges open to a well-fitted interior with drawers and niches, leather writing surface with pull-out supports, three wide drawers, and two pencil drawers. The secretaire is superbly decorated in the Chinoiserie manner with gilt and black details, and with bronze bail handles. French, maitrise model, in the Louis XVI manner, mid-20th century.
