Description
23" x 12" x 10". The wooden-framed store is painted to simulate wood-graining and has charming scalloped-design edging and striping, with "burled" wood panels. The interior has original wall and floor papers, and the store cabinets are natural wood with six open shelves and six spice drawers with silver banner labels and porcelain knobs. At one side is a partitioned office with hinged gate, and glass front window. Included is an office desk, cast iron scale with brass trays, wooden barrel with ebony knob, and chair. Good condition with original finish and papers that are quite worn. Germany, circa 1900, Christian Hacker, the actual shop is shown in Kohler's book, Christian Hacker, page 181. The faux-burled wood trim is quite charmingly applied, and the separate office area is rare.
