23" (58 cm.) Socket head of uniquely-formulated composition, sculpted hair in side-parted bobbed fashion, painted blue eyes with shaded detail, black upper eyeliner, fringed lashes, one stroke brows, closed mouth with painted row of teeth, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Jessie McCutcheon Raleigh, whose Chicago-based firm operated for only four years, 1916-1920; the faces being painted by students at the Chicago Art Institute. Value Points: the rarity of the McCutcheon dolls is rivaled by the artistry of their modeling and painting.
