Description
A rectangular wooden case with ebonized and faux-grained finish, and viewing window at center of lid, has a hidden coin drawer on one side with key, and turning handle at the other; the musical box can be operated by the coin drop or manually from the inside. Eight different tunes are played, two per coin drop. The drum, castanets and bells provide extra musical detail; the bells are struck by three brass figural birds that are visible through the window lid. Maker unknown, circa 1890.
