Bisque socket head,large dark blue glass paperweight inset eyes,thick dark eyeliner,painted lashes,brush-stroked brows,rose-blushed eye shadow,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with richly-shaded lips,dimpled chin,separately-applied pierced ears,brunette mohair wig over cork pate,French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent,original black "beauty mark" speck on left cheek,some body scuffing. Marks: 13 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau,circa 1885,the sad-faced ("triste") model was sculpted by noted French artist,Carrier-Belleuse and is considered one of the pivotal models of the Jumeau firm. Value Points: beautiful painting of brows and lashes enhances the dramatically large eyes,original body and body finish,wearing beautiful antique bronze silk dress and bonnet,undergarments,black leather shoes signed "Bebe Jumeau Depose" in large incised markings.
