Description
22" (56 cm.) Standing upon a velvet covered base is a bisque head doll with large blue glass paperweight inset eyes,lushly painted lashes and brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with outlined lips,pierced ears,carton torso and legs,wire upper arms,bisque forearms,wearing black velvet costume with fringe trim,matching cap,and holding a decorated tambourine in his right hand. When wound,he turns head side to side,waves the tambourine,and music plays. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Tete Jumeau 4 (and artist checkmarks on head) L.B. (key). Comments: Leopold Lambert,circa 1890. Value Points: well-functioning automata with lovely music,fine quality bisque and painting.
