13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head with rich sienna complexion, deeply-incised facial creases and cheek bones, inset enamel eyes, bald pate with shadowed hair, deeply-defined thick sideburns, moustache and trimmed beard, open mouth with teeth and tongue, hemp-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs with sienna complexion, painted orange boots, wearing original costume comprising cotton shirt and harem pants, red velvet tunic, burgundy twill vest with embroidery, sash, turban and carrying metal sabre with "ruby" accent. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, rare model with outstanding sculpting and painting.
