17" (43 cm.) All cloth doll with firmly-pressed and oil-painted hair and facial features,light brown painted short hair with forelock curls,blue painted eyes with defined threading,black and brown upper eyeliner,tinted brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed tiny mouth in petulant pose,muslin stitch-jointed arms,disc-jointing at wide hips,separately-sewn thumb. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Kathe Kruse (blue signature stamp,right foot) D 933 (backwards D,the mark ink lettered,possibly later museum mark,right foot) Germany (left foot). F.A.O. Schwarz 5th Ave & 31st St,New York (label on back torso). Comments: Kathe Kruse,circa 1915,commissioned by the prestigious New York doll and toy store. Value Points: beautiful painting with soft blushing on cheeks and ears,original costume comprising blue cotton smock and matching onesie bloomers,socks,shoes,and with rare store label.
