10" (25 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of young boy with darkened ruddy complexion, black sculpted hair in full casual curls, enamel eyes, closed mouth with puckered lips as though about to perform on bagpipes, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, wearing original costume comprising homespun pants and laced jacket, fleeced vest, leggings and carrying kidskin shoulder bag and Italian bagpipe (zampogna). Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, wonderful facial modeling designed to depict the bagpipe activity.
