Description
32" (81 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, very plump cheeks and throat, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with row of daintily outlined teeth, shaded and accented lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair over cork pate, kid gusset-jointed body, bisque forearms. Marks: Bte SGDG (forehead) Bru Jne 12 (and circle/dot symbol, head) Bru Jne No. 12 (shoulders. Condition: generally excellent, right thumb and left middle finger missing. Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, the firm's model known as "circle/dot"; introduced in 1879, it is possible this actual doll was first presented at the 1878 L'Exposition International in Paris considering its too-grand size for child play. Value Points: very rare grand-size Bru bebe with beautiful bisque, complexion and painting, original body, fine antique silk costume and woven bonnet.
