22" (56 cm.) Solid domed paper mache head with slender facial modeling and elongated throat, black glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, aquiline nose with accent dots, closed mouth with center accent, brunette human hair in elaborate curls, French kid poupee body with gusset jointing, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent, skirt very frail. Comments: for the French market, circa 1830. Value Points: splendid early lady with fine original patina of complexion, very sturdy original body, lovely original costume with orange blossom corsage and coronet, an attached note reads "doll dressed as a bride for the Duc de Bearn in 1827", ex-Mildred Seeley Collection.
