16" (41 cm.) h. x 16"w. 14"d. A carved wooden manger scene on wooden case with sculpted detail of stone flooring and rough-hewn wooden beams and walls,straw roof,is peopled with hand-carved figures having painted detail of costumes and fine detail of facial features and hair,including surmounted angel with detachable wooden wings,along with three wooden carved lambs,large oxen,and goat. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Tyrol (Germany/Austria),late 19th century. The set was acquired by the Cleveland Museum of Art in 1929. Value Points: beautiful wood carved and well-preserved presentation.
