Description
13" (33 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with modeled bosom and shoulderblades, brown glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, "O" shaped open mouth, outlined lips, metal screw at back of head to connect with rubber ball inside head which, when squeezed, caused a sucking activity with bottle nipple, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid bebe body, with hinged hips and knees, wooden lower legs, bisque lower arms. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Bru Jne 4 (head) No 4 (right shoulder) Bru Jne (left shoulder) Bebe Bru Bte SGDG (torso). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, "Bebe Teteur", circa 1885. Value Points: all-original bebe with complete mechanism, very sturdy body, perfect hands, wearing original cutwork baby gown, undergarments, bonnet, holding bone-handled silver rattle, and seated in fitted bentwood highchair.
