15" (38 cm.) Sculpted wax head with sculpted beard having defined comb-marked,inset glass bead eyes,aquiline nose,closed mouth,all-wooden fully-articulated body with jointing at shoulders,elbows,hips and knees,very expressive fingers,sculpted toes and sandals. Condition: good,some discoloration to wax under hat,patina worn on feet and fingers,two fingers chipped. Comments: early 19th century,the figure represented an important personage in ruling class or clergy. Value Points: fully-articulated wooden body,artistically sculpted wax head,original lavish silk costume in royal purple and gold,with metallic trim,appliqued gold metallic threads on symbolic cap,original wooden stand.
