Description

17" x 12" (43 x 30 cm). A firm-sided box with lithographed paper designs and engraving on lid, contains three paper-on-board puzzles in its interior. One depicts a woman and four children at play with a doll; in the other two scenes, the woman and children are playing with animals in outdoor and parlor scenes. Each puzzle is labeled by the maker Wentzel of Wissenbourg and Paris, and each is titled in three languages (French, German, and English) to appear to an international clientele. Puzzles intact and fresh, box a bit worn. Circa 1860.
