Description
Consisting of an arch-shaped heavy tinplate
fire place with gilt and red stencilled lettering
"Open Grate Heater, M.C. Hull" and an
elaborate internal arrangement allowing for a
larger amount of coal to be used, as well as
the distribution of heat and fumes by a flue
system. Patent #39,928 concerning "fireplace
grates" was issued to Maurice C. Hull of New
York on September 15, 1863. The original
patent tag is attached and a photocopy of the
