Description

Of sand-colored tightly woven silk bengaline the two-piece gown appears as one piece when assembled, having fitted bodice with closure at the V-shaped front, coat-shaped sleeves with narrow turn-up cuffs, dart-shaped back; with gore-flared skirt having four-paneled back and wide flat front. A constructed band edges the bodice front and extends down the length of the skirt. The band is edged with pearl buttons. The bodice is lined. The dress is stamped "Huret Paris" at the upper and lower bodice lining. The firm of Adelaide Huret commissioned costumes for her luxury doll from the finest doll dressers in Paris, guiding these couturiers in the styles she felt appropriate for her doll, and marking the dresses with the insignia of Huret. Circa 1860. Appropriately sized for 16" - 17" Huret or Huret style poupee.
