Description

The flared cape, made of black silk taffeta, achieves its shape from inset shoulders and box pleats that extend the length of the back. It has flared length pagoda sleeves and rounded collar with diamond points at the front. The cape is edged with black braid and the collar is trimmed with unusual black glass dangling beads. Along with a complementary black silk open-weave evening cap edged with circlets of black beads. Circa 1865. The ensemble is appropriately-sized for 15-17" poupee.
