Description

Of ice blue silk taffeta, crisp yet air-light, the skirt features a wide fitted waistband with shaped front from which emanate two graduated width bretelle-shaped suspenders. The skirt is formed of wide box-pleats around the entire waist, with a narrow double box pleat at the back closure. The hem is stiffened net lined for proper draping. Included is a white batiste blouse with tucks and embroidery at the bodice and delicate cutwork at the cuffs. Along with fine sheer muslin coiffed designed to capture the hair, with lappets at the back and a shaped fall onto the forehead, trimmed with border of hand-made lace and blue velvet ribbons. And exquisitely made blue petit point slippers with floral design, blue silk bows, leather soles (illegible signature) and little heels, incised "4". Appropriately sized for 16-17" Huret style poupee. Circa 1860.
