Description
35" (89 cm.) Bisque socket head with slender angular facial shape and elongated throat, brown glass sleep eyes, mohair lashes, painted lower lashes,brush-stroked brows, accented nostrils of aquiline nose, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair,French composition fully-jointed lady body with ample and well-defined bosom and derriere, tiny waist, elongated limbs. Condition: generally excellent. marks: 1199 S&H dep 13 (head) EBD (initial stamped on torso). Comments: the model was marketed as "La Patricienne" by Edmund Daspres, the successor to the French Jules Steiner firm,1902-1915. Value Points: extremely rare model especially in this rare Exhibition size; the model is even more rare having a closed mouth which is previously undocumented on the 1159 model. The unique body, which was designed to enhance the fashionable costumes of the era and seems almost as though hand-sculpted indicating its very limited production,is clothed in an exquisite antique silk costume.
