18" (46 cm.) An elegant lady with bisque swivel head on bisque shoulder plate has blue glass enamel eyes,painted lashes and brows,closed mouth,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,carton torso and legs,metal hands,is posed standing upon a metal wheeled base that is hidden by her skirt. When wound,she glides forward,then twirls to the side,then repeats in a graceful manner,while meanwhile alternately fanning herself or appearing to admire the floral bouquet that she holds. Condition: generally excellent,mechanism functions well. Comments: Vichy,circa 1870,the waltzing lady was considered one of the firm's most desirable parlor luxuries. Value Points: rare automaton whose refined presentation is enhanced by graceful movements,exquisite silk faille and lace costume.
