19" (49 cm.) All cloth doll with flat-dimensional face, oil-painted facial features, complexion and hair, shaded brown curly hair, blue eyes with black pupils, and two white eye dots in each eye, outlined eyes, short brows, outlined nose shape, closed mouth with pertly shaped lips, blushed cheeks, muslin stitch-jointed body, wearing antique white cotton dress, apron, undergarments. Condition: generally excellent, few slight scratches on face, rub on hair at crown. Marks: Columbian Doll Emma L. Adams (body stamp) Comments: Emma Adams' doll was awarded the Grand Prize at the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exposition and thus became known as the Columbian Doll. Value Points: beautifully painted cloth doll with compelling presence.
