Of ice blue and ivory silk satin, heavily weighted and fully lined for elegant drape and to support the bands of crystal beads, the gown features a low-necked bodice with horizontal alternate bands of silk arranged as though the gown was low-cut. Short puffed sleeves are fully lined to support the puff shape and have blue silk ruffles at the end. The fitted bodice forms a slight V below the waist, emphasizing the alternate bands of blue and ivory silk skirt that are separated by vertical rows of glass beads, each row having three tear-shaped crystal dangles. There are more crystal beads at the center of bodice and at the shoulders. The dress has hook and thread closures at the back; the entire back of the dress is ivory satin. Included with the dress are a matching crystal bead headdress of elaborate design, and a pair of blue silk satin dance slippers with soft leather soles. Appropriately sized for 16-17" Huret style poupee. Circa 1860.
