Bisque swivel head with plump facial modeling and pale complexion, with flat-cut neck on original kid shoulder-plate, deposed neck attachment allowing only side-to-side swivel, cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, dark painted eye liner, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with pale accented lips, unpierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, stretched-kid leather over carved wooden body with dowel articulation at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, bisque lower arms and hands with cupped fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (Maison Simonne stamp on torso). Comments: commissioned by Maison Simonne, the luxury doll shop at Rue de Rivoli in Paris, featured in the journal La Poupee, noted for the finest quality poupees and costumes, circa 1863.
