19" (48 cm). The bisque lady doll has swivel head on bisque shoulder plate, dark grey glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted long lashes, brush stroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate. The body is a hidden metal armature that allows elaborate articulation possibilities, under padding and stockinette, with beautifully sculpted bisque hands, lower legs from the knee and bare feet. The lady doll wears antique pantalets and dotted Swiss sacque, and owns a superb fully-lined golden silk fashion gown with extended full train, hip-length fitted jacked with gold buttons, and elaborate woven pattern along the skirt edge. Incised "4". Francois Gaultier, with rare body based on the original 1872 depose of Julien Ernest Pannier, and made by Eugene Gesland for Gaultier. Circa 1878.
