23" (58 cm). The smiling lady doll has pressed bisque swivel head with elongated shape and well-formed chin, on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, large pale blue glass inset eyes with darker blue outer rims and prominent black pupils, dark eyeliner encircles the eye sockets, painted lashes and shaded feathered brows, mauve blushed eye shadow, aquiline shaped nose with shaded nostrils, closed mouth with upturned lip corners punctuated by dimples at lip corners, shaded and accented lips, pierced ears and blonde mohair wig over cork pate. The doll has a kid lady body with shapely torso, gusset jointing at elbows, hips and knees, and stitched and separated fingers. She wears an antique costume comprising blue silk satin skirt, red woolen fitted jacket, straw bonnet with blue velvet trim, undergarments, stockings, shoes. Incised "Depose K" on forehead rim, and "K" on back head. The body has the boutique stamp "Aux Enfants Sage, Guiton, 13, 15, 17 Passage Jouffroy, Paris"; Guiton became proprietor of this doll shop in 1871. The model, in magnificent large size, was deposed by Leon Casimir Bru in 1873, presumably inspired by the beloved French Empress Eugenie.
