Description
14" (36 cm.) Posed kneeling in front of an altar is a bisque head poupee with cobalt blue glass eyes, outlined eyes, painted lashes and brows, outlined eye sockets, closed mouth with smiling expression, wearing original brown homespun nun's habit and with accessories. The altar is arranged with silk and wax flowers and candles, and the walls are papered with images and hand-lettered phrases regarding the Carmelite order; the arched top has paper-lined cover and glass front. Excellent condition. French, circa 1860, wonderfully-preserved unique vignette scene enhanced by beautiful doll with gentle smile.
