Description
17" (43 cm.) Each is all cloth with pressed and oil-painted facial features and hair,triple seams at back of head,painted brown hair with modeling details,painted eyes (one brown,one blue) with defined spiral threading,white eyedots,black and brown upper eyeliner,closed mouth,blushed cheeks and ears,stitch-jointed arms,separately-stitched thumbs,disc-jointed hips,and is wearing original costume. Condition: generally excellent,few small paint rubs,costumes a bit worn. Marks: Kathe Kruse (stamp on right foot,one numbered 5838,the other 101). Comments: Kathe Kruse,circa 1912. The dolls were originally owned by Elizabeth Hancock of the Hancock Cottage in Port Elgin,Ontario,and then passed along to the child Rose Marie Moore; included are photographs of the baby Rose in 1922 playing with these (and other) dolls. Value Points: wonderfully-preserved and artistically-painted dolls from original family with early photographs.
