12" (30 cm.) Having mohair head with felt face, amber glass eyes, white mohair beard, felt ears, metal torso containing mechanism, felt arms and feet, and wearing original felt and velvet costume of performing organ grinder monkey. When keywound at back torso, the monkey moves legs back and forth and emits a little cry (mechanism sporadic). Very good condition, Germany, probably Schuco, circa 1935. The toy appears in many vintage photographs of Shirley Temple at play; included with the monkey is a vintage photograph of Shirley's early doll room with the monkey visible on the top shelf.
