15" (38 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of woman with inclined head, brown sculpted hair drawn casually to the back and captured in a topknot with rumbling curls, downcast enamel inset eyes, closed mouth with smiling expression, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, bare feet with painted sandals and straps, wearing silk gown with silvered lace wrap, carrying an early silver filigree treasure chest set with 15 faux-rubies. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s.
