20" (51 cm.) The wooden framed fainting couch or recamier has a hinged bed which opens to a fitted box interior with old paper lining. The bed is upholstered with tufted green striped velvet with rich gathers around the frame. An old paper note in the box states that the box was dressed by a former member of the shop "Flanagan's of Elmira" (New York), the town's leading fashion shop. Early 1900s.
