17" (43 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of slender-faced woman, her head uptilted and gazing to the side, sculpted brown hair in long flowing curls low onto her shoulders, deeply-set enamel eyes, aquiline nose, open mouth with two teeth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, bare feet, wearing fine muslin-lined silk ivory gold with metallic thread embroidery under burgundy embroidered silk tunic, and with original fitted cap and crown set with faux emeralds and rubies. Excellent condition except five fingers broken. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, outstanding costume.
