Description
16" (41 cm.) Wood/composite head with deeply sculpted facial features, elongated slender face, painted blue eyes in deeply set sockets, incised age wrinkles, strong nose and jaw, firmly-set lips of closed mouth, wooden body with swivel waist, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, carved wooden hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: 1940s. the doll portrays George Arliss, the English actor, in his role in the Hollywood 1931 film "The Millionaire" or 1932 film "A Successful Calamity". Value Points: rare doll with outstanding characterization, with original monocle, original business suit.
