22" (56 cm.) Very firmly pressed and oil-painted cloth doll,deeply set eye sockets with painted brown eyes,incised eyeliner,closed mouth with very full lips,painted brown hair,muslin body with stitch jointing at shoulders,elbows,hips and knees,oil-painted lower arms and legs,antique costume. Condition: fair,original paint that is heavily scrubbed. Comments: known as the Philadelphia Baby made for J.B. Sheppard department store,circa 1900. Value Points: appealing worn patina on the sought-after doll,with his own equally worn toy donkey on cast iron wheels (one wheel broken).
