36" (91 cm.) Chip-carved wooden socket head with highly-defined character-like facial features,including large inset brown glass eyes,pronounced rounded nose and large ears,painted lashes and brows,hinged jaw with painted lips and teeth,brunette hair,wooden block torso and hands,cloth upper arms and legs; a pull-string in the torso allows the mouth to open and close in puppet-like manner,antique schoolboy costume. Condition: early repaint at the jaw and philtrum. Comments: American,late 19th century. Value Points: wonderful expression on the highly-characterized figure,great costume including spectacles.
