Dark brown cotton doll with flat-dimensional face having varnished finish with oil-painted features,large outlined amber-brown eyes in half-moon shape with white eye dots and very thick black eyeliner,thick black brows,defined broad nose,painted lips with coral-shaded lower lip,stitch jointing at shoulders,elbows,hips,and knees,mitten-shaped hands,coral sewn-on stockings,painted brown shoes,original antique costume including turban,and gold bangle earrings. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: New Orleans Rag Doll by Maud Witherspoon,circa 1900. Value Points: very fine artistic painting of the rare doll.
