Carved wooden head in simple folk art manner,with ebony-black complexion,inset brown glass eyes,pronounced nose,real hair brows,fleeced yarn hair,and having open mouth with movable tongue,painted teeth,designed to appear as though the doll is talking when the lever at the back of head is moved up and down,straw-filled body with jointing at hips,knees and shoulders,carved wooden hands. Condition: good,finish is worn and retouched. Comments: American,mid-1800s. Value Points: well- rendered folk art styling with dramatic expression,wonderful antique costume.
