All-black cotton fabric with un-jointed very plump head,torso and legs,having center seam on face and torso,jointed arms with large separately-stitched fingers,stuffed with excelsior and cloth,with hand painted facial features including pronounced eye whites,brows,nostrils,lips with two rows of tiny teeth,defined ears,and with individually sewn-on wool loops as hair,wearing antique red woolen middy covered with badges and pins including George Pardee,Republican,the 21st governor of California from 1903-1907. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American,early 20th century. Value Points: most captivating folk doll with painted features in charming naive style,great costume. Included is a brown velvet stuffed toy elephant with woolen blankets and crystal eyes.
