18" (46 cm.) All-cloth doll with pressed and painted facial features and hair,large blue eyes accented by double white eye dots,painted curly upper lashes,single stroke brows,accented nostrils,outlined lips,thickly-brush stroked painted light brown hair,muslin stitch-jointed body with oil-painted lower arms and legs,stitch-defined fingers and separate thumbs,wearing antique costume of woolen coat with amusing pin "I'm the guy that put the gum in gumption",shirt,pants,knit stockings,shoes and woven hat with original manufacturer's sample label suggesting that the doll was used as a salesman's model. Condition: generally excellent,original finish,little flake on nose. Comments: Gertrude Rollinson of Massachusetts,circa 1920. Value Points: rare doll with original finish,great costume.
