Of sturdy muslin,the doll is constructed with a wide band at the crown that is gusset-stitched to the flat dimensional face and back of head,giving depth to the head,having oil-painted brown hair with graduated-size ringlet curls at the sides of her head,oval-shaped blue eyes with brown and black eyeliner,brown brows,outlined nose with accented nostrils,closed mouth with solemn expression and shaded lips,stitch-jointing at shoulders,hips and knees,separately-stitched fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American,late 19th century,folk artist or cottage studio is unknown. Value Points: exquisite painting of features and hair,wearing original blue plaid cotton dress,with various jewelry and badges,undergarments,wonderful shoes,stockings,and carrying a lithographed cloth stuffed pug from Arnold Print Works with 1892 patent date.
