30" (76 cm.) All-muslin doll with side seams and back seam on the dome-shaped head with thick neck,painted brown short curly hair,subtly blushed oil-painted complexion and features,outlined shaded-blue eyes,brush stroked brows,thick outlined nose with accented nostrils,painted lips with wide center accent line,stitch jointing at shoulders,hips and knees,antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American,circa 1880s. Value points: most endearing large folk doll whose naive painting is as that of itinerant portrait painters who traveled from town-to-town in 19th-century America; in this case,the "painting" is in doll form rather than as a framed painting.
