28" (71 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full lower cheeks lending a solemn expression, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, lushly-painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, separately modeled pierced ears, rare brunette extended length mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists and plump limbs, lovely antique costume, bonnet, undergarments, and signed Jumeau shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 13 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1884, his important model was sculpted by famed French artist, Carrier-Belleuse. Value Points: finest bisque and painting on the desirable solemn-faced bebe model known as Bebe Triste, original body and body finish.
