Description
18" (46 cm.) Of fine cotton,the doll has one-piece head and
torso,stitch-jointed arms and legs,mitten fingers with separate
thumbs,hand-painted facial features,outlined pale blue
eyes,painted lashes,nose shape,and outlined red lips,unusual
"hair" comprised of silky floss bangs,and yellow cotton wig cap
with matching cotton strips designed to allow a child to braid or
otherwise design the doll hair. Condition: very good,light
spotting on side of face. Comments: from the 1915 patent of Anne
Maxwell of New York; the patent for the doll and its description
are shown in Cloth Dolls by Linda Edwards,page 42. Value Points:
rare American doll with unusual wig design,nicely-painted
features.
