Description
32" (81 cm.) All-carved wooden doll with separately-carved swivel
head that is pin-attached to the torso,carved short bobbed hair in
side-parted fashion,deeply-inset carved eyes with well-defined
eyelids and brows,blushed complexion,mouth carved as though
open,accented nostrils,dowel jointing at shoulders,elbows,hips and
knees,carved and painted definition of shoes and socks. Condition:
generally excellent. Comments: American,early 1900s,maker
unknown,possibly with original purpose as mannequin. Value Points:
strongly-characterized features allow costuming as girl or
boy,with fine original finish,and having wonderful carved detail
of ankle boots.
