Description
25" (64 cm.) Brown cotton sateen doll with flat-dimensional face
having varnished finish with oil-painted features,large outlined
brown eyes in half moon shape with white eye dots and very thick
black eyeliner,black brows,defined nose,painted lips with coral-
shaded lower lip,black wiry hair,stitch jointing at
shoulders,elbows,hips,and knees,blue sateen sewn-on
stockings,painted black shoes,original antique costume including
turban,and gold bangle earrings. Condition: generally excellent.
Comments: New Orleans Rag Doll by Maud Witherspoon,circa 1900; see
#9 for a history of this firm. Value Points: very rare doll in
this size,with original painted finish.
