Description
16" (41 cm.) The classic topsy-turvy doll depicts a brown-
complexioned doll on one side, and a white-complexioned doll on the
other,each with artistically oil-painted features,and applied
hair,the white-complexioned girl with unusual brown-painted eyes
and brows and black mohair curls, with common torso. The small New
Orleans cottage industry, under the direction of Maud
Witherspoon, sold its dolls in important stores throughout the
United States for a short period of time at the beginning of the
1900s. Value Points: dolls by this firm are very rare; the topsy-
turvy models are virtually unknown.
